Leaders for Littlest Angels Chapel include Mindy Sobraske, PVUMC Preschool Director and Quint Harris, PVUMC Music Ministries Director. Description: Just as children learn their ABCs and 123s by repetition, participation, and encouragement, the same is true for their spiritual growth; Every week we will have a themed set of Bible story and verse, songs, and prayer. Modeling behavior helps children learn and these themes will be taken back to the classroom and reinforced throughout the week.
Activities are designed to provide a creative and imaginative introduction to music and musical skills. A trained teacher provides a fun yet structured learning environment for the children. The program allows children to experience music through speech, playing instruments, movement and signing. Research has indicated that there is a strong correlation between music and numerous developmental skills such as coordination, timing, memory skills, kinetic and aural development.
After school programs will be offered each year. Registration and information for these programs will be mailed in August and/or as the programs begin throughout the year. Children must be three years old and potty trained to participate and only one class may be taken a day. Class registration for the After School Programs is first come, first serve. You may leave your After School Program registration form in the preschool office and we will put it in the teachers mail box or you may mail the form directly to the After School Program provider.
Please see below for a complete listing and description of each program.
Children already have all the tools they need to create masterpieces of art! Artworks will expand and challenge their imaginations by inspiring them to explore various art techniques and introducing them to master artists. Artists and works from around the world will open their eyes to new cultures. Literature, history, geography, and science will enhance your childs art experience. Each class ends with a quick review and snack that coordinates with the lesson.
Bakers Cents is busy creating little entrepreneurs while instilling a sense of community. During each session, children reinforce and learn new math and life skills by learning how to follow a recipe, count and identify money, create advertising for their bake sales as well as learning how to work with customers. All proceeds from the bake sale goes to the UMOM charity.
Each week in Books and Cooks, children explore a popular piece of childrens literature by reading aloud and preparing food related to the story. Like the best readers, the best cooks begin early in childhood by sharing positive experiences. Children will learn together by measuring, pouring, mixing and baking. In the process, they will develop valuable hand and eye coordination, refine small motor skills, and build beginning math skills.
Our enrichment classes help students become comfortable with the computer as a tool while learning new concepts and applying new skills at their own speed. The software used in our program has been designed to build basic academic skills plus develop underlying thinking skills while having fun! The multiple skill levels and low student to teacher ratio insure a fun and rewarding experience. The computer is used as a tool towards educating children in basic reading, math, vocabulary, creative thought skills, problem solving, listening skills and following verbal directions.
Godly Play Godly Play is a Montessori-like approach working with children to support, challenge, nourish, and help guide their spiritual quest. Children daily experience the mystery of the presence of God in their lives, but they lack the language, the permission, and the understanding to express and enjoy that in our culture. Godly Play offers them a way to do so. Godly Play focuses clearly and deeply on the childs spirituality. This involves, enhances, supports, and enlarges the quality of relationships in other activities for the children and heir families in the setting they choose for their own religious development.
Gymnastics is an outreach gymnastics program offered by Arizonas top instructors in cooperation with Arizonas top ranked gymnastics clubs. It focuses on the innate love of movement that children have and channels it into various gymnastics skills, including balance beam, bars, tumbling, mini trampoline and vault. The teachers look forward to instructing your children as well as the challenge of helping instill positive attitudes that will set the pace for your childs future athletic development.
Little Kicks is a fun introduction to the sport of soccer through a blend of exciting and stimulating games and activities, in a safe and enjoyable environment. The goal of the program is to promote having fun while developing your childs gross motor skills, increasing self esteem and encouraging group social skills. Each session is 50 minutes, staffed by professional coaches and coordinated in a nurturing environment.
PVUMC Preschool has adopted a new Sun Safe Policy, which recognizes the importance of teaching sun safe behavior to our students as a means of limiting the immediate and long-term negative health effects of sun exposure. Hats are to be worn during all outdoor activities in order to protect the head, face and ears. Children will need to bring a hat to school labeled with his/her name and your child will keep the hat in his/her cubby. All of the students will continue learning about sun safety in their classrooms throughout the year by doing age-appropriate activities, learning songs and finger plays. You are encouraged to put sunscreen on your child before their preschool day begins. Preschool staff is not able to put sunscreen on your child, but the preschool has a bottle of sunscreen in the office for parents to use in the event you forgot to put it on at home.
For further information see our Sun Safety Policy.
Our Playground has a variety of apparatus to enhance motor skills development and for the children to safely explore and exercise. Be sure to review our Shade Program.

We are bringing back the ancient art of oral storytelling and incorporating yoga poses to re-enact each story. The class will integrate yoga and yoga philosophy, peace education, geography, literature, storytelling and of course pure fun! So much of our external world has deadened our childrens imaginative life. Story time yoga will awaken your childs imagination, a key building block for early childhood development. Lil Yogis will plant seeds of images that blossom from within each child, which in turn creates a more centered, balanced, peaceful child.
